Joel and Lindsay live in a neighborhood full of great photo-ops, so they thought it would be fun and meaningful to stay close to home for their engagement session. First, we met at one of their favorite local restaurants (the Basil Leaf Cafe) for a few shots, we got there before the dinner rush and the manager was kind enough to let us do our thing for a little while.

After the Cafe we walked over to the Nature Museum (one of my favorite spots) for a few more pictures…you can even see Joel & Lindsay’s building in the background of some of these shots. They brought a bottle of wine from a favorite vineyard as a prop!

I like this one a lot…

Joel & Lindsay…you two are so great to work with, so natural and fun in front of the camera! I can’t wait for your wedding next September…so glad that Ed & Rebecca referred you to me
Lincoln Park Engagement Session :: Joel & Lindsay
Green City Market Engagement :: Chris & Carolyn
Chris and Carolyn packed up their home here in Chicago a couple of years ago and headed down to Florida where Chris had an amazing job opportunity waiting. They both still love Chicago, so decided it was fitting to have their wedding here (next May at Salvage One – my favorite!) Chris & Carolyn flew in for Memorial Day weekend to do a little wedding planning, visit friends & family and have a little engagement session with me.
Our first location for this shoot was at the Green City Market in Lincoln Park. Farmer’s markets are a favorite spring/summer spot for me, I’ve been waiting for the day when I couple would choose to visit one for their engagement session.

Purchases: A little pie from Hoosier Mamma (if you haven’t tried this place, go!!) and a baguette from Bennison’s
After a quick wardrobe change we headed in to the city for some more urban/industrial shots. I love this first one. A lot.
Love these!

Chris & Carolyn, I hope you love this little preview of our session! I can’t wait to show you the rest.
Downtown Chicago Engagement :: Julie & Andrew
Oh my goodness, I am in love with this engagement session! This was the first time that I had met Julie & Andrew in person, but I knew that they’d be fun and cute because facebook doesn’t lie : ) These two are incredibly natural in front of the camera so their session felt like we were just walking around Lincoln Park getting to know each other, and I’d snap some images in the midst of that. It was great.
We started off meeting in front of Nookie’s Too in Lincoln Park, just a few blocks from where Julie lived before she and Andrew moved to California. This was the first click of the day (literally). I knew this would be a great shoot…
Love this one!
Stunning, Julie!

I love, love this next series of shots on the bridges downtown…

A little insight into the Erica Rose Photography blog post…when I do these collages, its because there are too many favorites to choose from and rather than eliminate I just combine. Clearly, I have too many favorites today.

Julie & Andrew, I can’t wait for October 15! I hope the rest of the planning goes smoothly…enjoy soaking up the sun in Cali for me!
PS Julie’s outfits inspired me to shop. So, if you need me I’ll be at Old Orchard.
Lincoln Park Engagement Shoot: Ryan + Tori
Tori, Ryan & I had a great time walking around Lincoln Park for their e-shoot a few days ago…and it turned out to be a beautiful blue sky! Perfect for these Floridians. We started out at the Lily Pond behind the Lincoln Park Conservatory…a gorgeous spot for photos all year round.

I love these two shots, there’s just something about them.
And this one! They’re such a cute couple.
This is my favorite kind of light, when it comes filtered through the trees and makes everything soft and beautiful.

This is one of my favorite shots from our shoot! I feel like its a little different than what I usually post but I just love it.
Tori & Ryan, thanks for braving the cold, climbing on stuff, sitting in the sand…you were great!!
