Yesterday was a beautiful Fall day, and I had the pleasure of shooting another adorable family in Lincoln Park. Andrew & Jessie are friends of another family who I worked with a couple weeks ago as well as a couple whose wedding I’ll be shooting in two weeks! Leah is Jessie & Andrew’s adorable (almost) one year old daughter and she is such a doll!
Apparently as soon as any music gets going Leah starts to boogie, it was fun trying to capture some of her moves…
Jessie found this toy box in an alley one morning last week and it made for such a perfect prop during our session.

Beautiful girl!
I love how Leah’s eyes just pop in this one:
The striped tights are my favorite. If I have a baby girl one day I’m definitely going to be putting her in some of these!
This shot is one of my favorite of the day, I just love the light and how natural it is.

Happy Halloween Leah! I hope you get to eat a little candy and show off your Buffalo costume today.
Lincoln Park Family Shoot: Andrew, Jessie + Leah
Lincoln Square Family: Alex, Kyla & Roxy
I love this time of year, leaves falling, pumpkins, apple cider, Canadian Thanksgiving, and family portraits! People are starting to think of Christmas cards and gifts…or in this case celebrating a birthday – Roxy is turning one soon! I had a great time walking though the neighborhoods near Lincoln Square with this family.
It worked out great that Roxy was pretty fascinated by the click of my shutter, it wasn’t too tricky to get her looking right at me.
That is, until we introduced leaves into the picture…she loved those too.

Darling.

Roxy is super curious…and everything goes right in the mouth! I think her mom and dad have to keep a close watch on this one. She had her eye on a dandelion stem in this one.
Kyla & Alex told me that they didn’t have engagement photos taken and had quite a small wedding, so the wedding photographer in me couldn’t let the shoot end without at least a couple cute shots of the two of them.
I love diaper shots.
Ooh!! Lovin’ life, naked in the park…

This might be my favorite shot, Roxy had so many cute little expressions and is quite a chatterbox…I feel like this captures a bit of her personality.
Kyla, Alex & Roxy…it was a pleasure meeting you! See you in a month at Tana & Joe’s wedding!
Oak Park: First Family Session of the Fall!
Happy Fall everyone!
This morning I did a family photo shoot in Oak Park. Beth & Alison are sisters, and Beth contacted me a couple of months ago to set up this shoot for her family as well as Alison’s – fun! I hope that my sister and I can do stuff like this when we have kids.
Nolan started things off, and let me tell you…this 4 year old was pretty excited about having his picture taken! (He did want to make sure that I knew that he had to go to school as soon as we were done though…he didn’t want to miss playing knights and princesses outside.)
I love this one – such expressive eyes!

Best quote of the shoot…
Teddy: “Nolan, you’re looking pretty sharp today.”
Nolan: “Yeah, I’m pretty awesome.”
Hilarious! Gotta love the modesty of a 4 year old. (But, he is awesome)

The shots of Beth & Nolan are some of my favorites from the morning, you can tell they’re very close.

Baby Ryder is 4 months old, and such a sweetie! He didn’t fuss through the entire shoot.
He looked at everything with such wonder…I love catching that look on their faces.

Sweet.

A smile!! Love.
Happy Friday everyone!
Chicago Child Portrait :: Esmee is One!
This weekend I had the pleasure of working with John Mark, Sheena and Esmee for the second time – this occasion was Esmee’s First Birthday! It is always such a pleasure for me to see people multiple times as babies grow up…and this child shoot was especially fun for me because I haven’t done one in a while! Wedding Season has kept me busy but it was nice to have a little change of pace, I almost forgot how much I enjoy working with the little ones!
Oh…those eyes! She’s such a doll.
Love the two little teeth! Esmee got this rocking horse for her birthday and loved it right away – cowgirl in the making?
I think the name of this book was “That’s Not My Purse!”…apparently, its a shocker!

Time for a wardrobe change before some outside shots…there is something I love about this picture.
This one is an adventurer, I can tell.
Oh, the places you will go Esmee! Happy Birthday!
Oz Park Child Portrait :: Sweet Emma
This is the second time I took portraits of Emma…the first time was about a year ago. I didn’t think it was possible for her to get any cuter than she was a year ago…but I think I’ve been proven wrong! She is a doll.
The many faces of Emma…(this is one animated little girl!)
I remember that smile! Last time, it just has fewer teeth!

I hope portraits with Emma become a tradition, her whole family is wonderful to work with…and I could never get tired of seeing this little face!
