Colorado Ranch Wedding :: Jesse & Ashleigh

As I said yesterday, I was in the wedding party for this wedding…Ashleigh and I have been friends since our first year of College at CBC in Canada, we have travelled in Europe together, been College roommates, road tripped and spent a lot of time getting to know each others’ families and it was so great to be a part of the wedding WEEK! Even though I wasn’t the wedding photographer, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to capture a lot of the candid moments and details along the way. Keep an eye on Stone and Shelby Crandall‘s website for their photos…they are creative, talented and so great to work with!

There were so many great details to capture at this wedding, I love that. Everything about this wedding was so reflective of Jesse and Ash – it was just perfect for them!Amos, he knew something was going one…just needed to check it all out.Somehow I was in charge of the bridesmaid’s bouquets…not my thing necessarily, but they came out alright! The guests starting to walk up the hill to the ceremony.
This is one of the Greenwood boys…he (and all of the kids) did a lot to help get ready for the wedding, he also baked this pie HIMSELF. What a stud.I gave my camera to my friend Bethany to take some shots during the ceremony, I put up a couple so that you can get a sense of the setting – nice work Bethany! All the girls just love Ash – I love this shot! There were probably 60 pies brought for dessert, we made these little tags the week before the wedding so that everyone could see who brought the pie and what kind it was – cute, right?! When I was looking for a pie to take pictures of I just looked for my friend Alisha’s pie…I knew it would be a pretty one.
This one is really pretty too!
Love. The band was great! They played ‘If I Needed You’ from the Crazy Heart soundtrack for the Father Daughter dance…it was so perfect.

This was just such a fairytale wedding, one that I will truly remember always! I’m so happy for you Jesse and Ash, and couldn’t think of two more wonderful people to celebrate in such an awesome way! Thanks for letting me be a part of your day.

Setting the Stage / The Greenwood Ranch

If anyone noticed that I wasn’t blogging as much as usual in the past two weeks, it was because I was in Colorado for my dear friends’ Ashleigh and Jesse’s wedding! I was a bridesmaid for this one, not the photographer. Let me tell you, it is a pretty interesting role reversal for a wedding photographer to give up her camera and put on a bridesmaid’s dress.
I was so excited to be in the wedding party, loved being involved in the whole week leading up to the wedding, and getting that time to spend with Ash. HOWever…their wedding was so awesome that I wish it were possible for me to be doing two jobs at this one!
This is going to take two posts…this first one is just photos of the Greenwoods and their ranch in Livermore Colorado – their ranch home used to be a hotel, built in the 1800′s and there is even an old post office on the property, so awesome. Dream home for sure!Jesse, Ashleigh and I took a walk up to the ceremony site – about a mile or so from the house to a buffalo jump…they had put up signs leading the way – here’s Billy (the ringbearer!) leading the way…This is for Jesse, he loves barbed wire shots.
The view from the buffalo jump, breathtaking!New kittens! This is Hattie Rose Greenwood. Cutest little flower girl ever, but also a little fireball…here she’s squirting Jesse with the hose.I’ve never seen a wallpapered tub before, but I’m loving it.Hello?! Where are we, this is just too perfect. And to top it all off is the sweetest puppy ever, Stubbs, just loungin’ on the front porch.

Anniversary Session :: Oscar & Lina

Creating this post makes me miss my Swedes so much! Oscar and Lina have been going to school here in Chicago with Jamie for the past two years, and sadly we had to say goodbye to them a couple of weeks ago. It was SO wonderful having them here, and we just don’t know what we’ll do without them next year! I guess a trip to Sweden is in order?
Oscar and Lina asked me to do some photos of them to remember their Chicago neighborhood, and also to help celebrate 5 years of marriage! For some reason I always get a little nervous shooting friends, but in the end they are so much fun to photograph.
I love this one!And this one! This is the house they lived in…top floor.
In Oscar’s words…”Oh, hello neighbor!”Lina is a perfect model, so easy to photograph.Ha! This was an experiment – thanks to Oscar for being my guinea pig – he jumped a lot.Ok, I guess I just love them all. And, I have a thing for grasses.Come back here Oscar and Lina! We (and many others) miss you so much already!

Wayside Chapel Wedding :: Scott & Monica

Hello internet! I’ve been a little bit absentee in the past couple of weeks, and that is because I went to Colorado for an AMAZING cowboy wedding, and then to Minnesota to visit family. Truly, I have been dying to share some photos from my recent shoots…so here I am, starting to play catch up by sharing some photos from Scott and Monica’s wedding a couple of weeks ago!
It was probably mid March when I was looking at my schedule for the summer, and saw this one unlikely hole – June 12th. I said to Jamie …it is weird that I have this hole. Its June 12th! Every other Saturday (and Friday and Sunday) in June I’ve gotten multiple inquiries…why no love for June 12th? And then I heard from Monica! She started off her email by saying…I know this is kind of last minute and that you are probably booked, but my wedding is on June 12th – are you free?! And I was! It was meant to be.
To top it off, Scott and Monica were planning for just the kind of wedding that I love to shoot…in a great old stone chapel called The Wayside Chapel (so perfect) and then a backyard reception!
Most beautiful bridesmaid’s bouquet I’ve ever seen? Quite possibly.Love.So, unfortunately it did rain enough that we had to be inside rather than outside for the ceremony, but maybe these umbrella shots make up for that? They sure do make a cute prop! For some reason these two were a little nervous about the couple shots…I have no idea why, they were great! Look at how stunning they are together.
Monica’s brother helped her do a lot of the decor and set up at the reception, they both have such a great eye for this stuff!Beautiful bride, and such a lovely person! Congrats Monica – it was a pleasure working with you!

Alice Millar & Prairie Production Wedding :: Geoff & Kellee

I’m telling you, there is no end to the amazing weddings that I get to shoot…it just keeps getting better!

Kellee was such a great bride to work with, right from the beginning I knew that she was going to take a relaxed approach to this!
She looked so classic on her wedding day, and had a GREAT dress…Sweet bouquet made by one of Kellee’s sisters (she has three, and one brother!) Peonies might just be my favorite flower.Alice Millar Chapel – on the Northwestern Evanston Campus – stunning. Unfortunately for most of us, you have to be a student or alum of Northwestern to be married there – good thing Geoff happens to be among those alum! These two are Geoff’s adorable nieces! Aren’t they darling? I love this picture.
Ahh…the backlit kissing shot, my fave.
We went into this open warehouse where the nice men working there were kind enough to let us in to take some photos – I could have done a blog post of just these shots, but decided to pick only one for now…
Prairie Production is one of my favorite venues – definitely check it out if you’re looking for something a little bit unique in the West Loop, it is gorgeous! The moment I really knew I was meant to shoot Geoff and Kellee’s wedding was when they started talking about the kind of food they had decided to go with. It was awesome. The caterer was May St. Cafe which also happens to be one of Geoff and Kellee’s favorite spots in Chicago…during the cocktail hour they had this awesome spread of cheeses, breads, nuts, fruit…and they way they presented it was so creative! LOVE.
Ahh! Love this shot, what an adorable grandpa. Now, see? Its perfect, right?Geoff and Kellee, I hope you like what you’ve seen so far! I absolutely loved shooting your wedding, it was so great!
Congratulations to a wonderful couple.
